An Answer To A Problem

Unsure if a voice is human or a clone created by AI? It’s time for there to be an invention— an invention that detects if a voice or sound is digital, or naturally made, and that acts as a filter and listening device. Once a digital sound or voice is “heard” by the filter, a warning notification pops up on your phone or tablet letting you know the sound is of digital origin (artificial!).

What would the screening listening ear “scan” for?

Said device, in part acting like an oscillator, would listen & scan for square wave signatures (digital binary sound), and natural sine wave signatures (natural analog sound), for instance. In other words, natural sounds have a different waveform signature shape than that of digital sounds. Digital sound has a signature wave that, although curved to some degree, is always jagged & square shaped when made visual. Naturally occurring waveforms are smooth curves even when examined through an oscillator.

Nature has a different signature than digital AI creations. The screening & listening filter would come as an app for your phone or tablet. Once a sound is heard, a visual representation of the sound is immediately displayed as a waveform, and the user shown whether the voice is analog, or a binary & digital voice. This would be a foolproof method of detection as AI deepfakes can only come close to recreating analog nature, but never actually be natural. Once a digital voice warning pops up, the user is made aware that the voice heard is of digital creation. Then, they can decide how best to continue by terminating it, or going along with it. This app would be so helpful in terms of deepfakes that try to scam people—especially elderly people, and people less adept with technology and the latest scam fads.

BONUS: To add fun to the experiment— turn ON the app in a mall, or in an airport— to listen for the android, or digitally created walking among us. Is it me? Is it you? Your neighbor? Who knows? Turn on the app, listen to who’s talking and find out if they’re human or not 🛸 😲!

If you know the difference bt analog and binary soundwaves and have a thing to say about how to detect deepfake sounds, AI voices, feel free to explain your theory in the comments, or chat me up about it on Twitter/X by following me at @Daurkdeeds.
